We built this shade out of our own frustration with harsh, unflattering ceiling lighting. Inspired by Japanese paper lanterns, each shade is made from handmade rice paper that softly diffuses your light. No tools, no wiring, no stress. Just stick it over your "boob light" and fill your room with a warm glow. Fits most standard flush-mount ceiling lights.

Inspired by Isamu Noguchi’s iconic paper lanterns, each KAMI cover is hand crafted from paper and a lightweight metal frame.
It ships flat and is designed to easily attach over your existing ceiling light.
KAMI does not include lightbulbs. For safety, make sure no bulbs touch the cover. Use only LED bulbs. Halogen or incandescent bulbs can run too hot and will damage the paper. LED color-changing bulbs work great with this product and give it an entirely new look and feel.

We ship all orders from the east coast within 24hrs of purchase, Monday through Friday.
Since we are a tiny team, we are not able to accept returns right now. However, If anything arrives damaged or you run into any issues, email team@trykami.com and we’ll get you taken care of.
Rice paper, wire, and nothing extra
Our shades are handmade using rice paper and a simple wire frame. We do not use plastic in our products, and everything down to our packaging is made with natural materials.
Simple to install, easy to remove
Each shade attaches over your existing ceiling light with adhesive tabs, so there is no need for tools, rewiring, or permanent changes. It installs in minutes and removes just as easily.

Will it fit?
Most ceiling lights are about 12 inches wide, so we've made sure anything up to 15 inches will fit perfectly.

Nope! KAMI is a shade, not a full light fixture. You’ll use it with your existing ceiling light and LED bulbs.
Yes. KAMI sticks to most ceilings, including light popcorn texture, using the included velcro command strips. If yours is very rough or uneven, send us a photo and we’ll confirm.
Definitely. KAMI is easy to remove and re-install, and it ships flat so you can take it anywhere.
Yes. KAMI softens harsh overhead light and gives it a warmer, more ambient feel. The exact warmth depends on the LED bulbs you use, but most people notice their room feels instantly cozier.

Yes. Each shade is crafted in the same way as traditional paper lanterns, using a lightweight metal frame and durable handmade paper. It’s completely safe to use as long as you pair it with LED bulbs only, never halogen or incandescent, which can run too hot.
